Before wiring anything, decide what needs to move. For example, you may want a coal chute to tilt.

Wiring micro servos correctly
Typically, micro servos use three wires: power, ground, and signal. Most hobby servos work with 5V, so verify the supply.

Be sure to isolate power from your DCC system, since servo circuits may interfere with track signals.
Programming realistic motion
Servo movement should look natural. Quick, jerky movements break the illusion. Instead, use slow sweeps or pauses in between.
